National ID Card: They Won’t Give Up On It

When will they stop trying to force this thing down our throats?? Probably never. Once again we will need to call upon our State governments to put this in an early grave.

Here is Ron Paul with information about how they are trying to sneak this ID card into legislation.

Senate Votes to Extend Patriot Act

MSNBC

Democrats have retreated from adding new privacy protections to the primary U.S counterterrorism law, stymied by Senate Republicans who argued the changes would weaken terror investigations.

The proposed protections were cast aside when Senate Democrats lacked the necessary 60-vote supermajority to pass them. Dashing the hopes of liberals, the Senate Wednesday night instead passed — by voice vote without debate — a one-year extension of key parts of the USA Patriot Act that would have expired on Sunday.

Thrown away were restrictions and greater scrutiny on the government’s authority to spy on Americans and seize their records.

The House was prepared to approve the extension Thursday, dropping even more extensive privacy protections approved by the House Judiciary Committee.

Cyber Security Act

April 28, 2009 – by Donny Shaw

“America’s vulnerability to massive cyber crime, global cyber espionage, and cyber attacks has emerged as one of the most urgent national security problems facing our country today,” says Sen. Olympia Snowe [R, ME]. “If we fail to take swift action, we, regrettably, risk a cyber-Katrina.”

To deal with the issue, she has teamed up with Sen. Jay Rockefeller [D, WV] (pictured) and introduced into Congress the Cybersecurity Act of 2009. Since it’s introduction on April 1st, it has moved up the OpenCongress most-viewed bills list into the top five, and here’s why: it would give the President unilateral authority to shut down the internet.

This article is a must read for all those concerned about their privacy!!

Intelligence Program Face Investigation

Source: OpenCongress.org

Congress will investigate a controversial intelligence-gathering program after officials within the National Security Agency said it may have overstepped its bounds in conducting electronic surveillance on Americans. According to a story first reported in the New York Times, officials with the Justice Department, along with NSA personnel, discovered the irregular activity during a regular review of the program.

DOJ staff discovered NSA had eavesdropped on domestic e-mails and telephone calls of Americans, though the surveillance is believed to have been done unintentionally. An example of the “overcollection” of information was the revelation that a member of Congress was spied on while overseas.

The problems, according to an NSA spokesman, are related to implementation of a new intelligence law passed last year. The FISA Amendments Act of 2008 set new guidelines for electronic surveillance within the United States. The bill had three main provisions:

  • It made the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (of 1978) the exclusive standard for authorizing electronic surveillance.

  • It required a court order for the surveillance of any American who became a target for electronic surveillance, regardless of whether the person is in the U.S.

  • It required the FISA Court, a secret court established to conduct FISA oversight, to approve the removal of any American’s name that is inadvertently captured during electronic surveillance.

Personnel with the NSA and Justice said the program has been revised to comply with the law; they delayed a renewal of the program until those corrective steps were taken.

“Hope for Change” – Has Anything Changed Yet??

You heard the slogan.  Were you one of those taken in by it?  Do you still believe that there will be any change in the way the federal government does business?  Will the People be able to count on their government to “preserve, protect and defend” the Constitution and their Freedom?

Think about all that the new administration has accomplished up to this point.  What do you see??  Disagree all you want but at this point I see nothing but the same ol’ song and dance.  If at all possible I hope to enlighten the readers of this blog to the fact that the 2 major political parties are one and the same, with very slight and inconsequential differences which all serve a single specific purpose, marching in the same direction.

We have seen a “stimulus” bill passed and signed into law under the “economic emergency” without the full transparency that had been promised on the campaign trail while Obama fought to secure votes.  This bill was passed in much the same way that the USA Patriot Act was passed during the Bush Administration.[1] And when scrutinized closely we find a few new laws tucked away within its pages that do nothing more than infringe upon the rights of the People[2] and invade privacy[3] while implementing new systems of control[4] over them.

As noted in a previous post, Obama has surrounded himself with “globalists” that work towards their goal of a New World Order.[5] This NWO is not in the best interests of America or the World.  It serves to benefit only the lust for financial gain and power of the International Corporations. But I digress…

We have had to endure an assault on our liberty from the Bush Administration which brought protests from around the country, from all corners and regardless of political affiliation.

“The brownshirt Bush regime ignored the protections provided by habeas corpus. They spied on American citizens without warrants. They violated the First Amendment. They elevated decisions of the president above US statutory law and international law. They claimed the power to withhold information from the people’s representatives in Congress, and they asserted, and behaved as if, they were unaccountable to the people, Congress, and the federal courts. The executive branch claimed the power to ignore congressional subpoenas. Republicans regarded Bush as a Stuart king unaccountable to law.”[6]

And what solution did the American People come up with??  Yep, that’s right, they voted for the same ol’ song and dance instead of looking to someone that was outside of the mainstream political landscape.  They looked to another “politician” instead of a “statesman”.

We now see that Obama is falling into line with much of what the Bush Administration has accomplished (which was by no means for the benefit of the American People).

“Now we have the Democrats, and the assault on civil liberty continues. President Obama doesn’t want to hold Bush accountable for his crimes and violations of the Constitution, because Obama wants to retain the powers that Bush asserted. Even the practice of kidnapping people and transporting them to foreign countries to be tortured has been retained by President Obama.

The civil liberties that Bush stole from us are now in Obama’s pocket.”[7]

How is that for change?  Allow me to demonstrate some of the other “changes” that come from the “Hope for Change” administration.

The current administration is now attempting to block a lawsuit seeking to recover millions of missing White House emails.[8] Why is Obama’s administration continuing the Bush administrations efforts to block this lawsuit?

Onward we march towards Socialism?  Benito Mussolini coined the term “fascism” and later said that “corporatism” would have been a better term. Socialism or Corporatism?  Take your pick.  We are without a doubt headed in that direction as evidenced by the leanings of the new administrations desire to institute mandatory programs of national service.

“Despite denials that Obama plans to institute a mandatory program of national service, his original change.gov website stated that Americans would be “required” to complete “50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year”. The text was only later changed to state that Americans would be “encouraged” to undertake such programs.”[9]

The pattern should be obvious to anyone with a skittle of intelligence. How do you think the Obama Administration is going to react to the Bush Administrations efforts to protect the telecom industry from liability when Bush had successfully enacted law giving them immunity[10]?  Will that Bush policy change under this new administration?  The pattern suggests that these huge corporations have nothing to worry about and they will continue to allow your privacy to be invaded.

While people are busy living their life, working, throwing “Oscar” night partys (Can you believe it? People actually have Oscar night parties!!) or watching News stories about which celebrity doesn’t wear underwear – the reality around them is gradually undergoing change they may not see the danger of until it is much too late.

Thankfully, there are many people that understand the dangers the runaway federal government brings upon The People and are working diligently to thwart these assaults on the Freedom that the People of this country have long defended and enjoyed. Hmm, maybe I should be wary of a visit by the Sercret Service?[11]

It appears that “hope” for change was the promise. Hope all you want – you won’t see real change until we have Statesman that refuse to be puppets of corporations and their lobbyists.

Get Active. Join Patriots from every corner of this great land and work to effect real change.  The promise of “hope” for change is not a promise for actual change.  Real Change begins with You.

See the links under “America Acts” to find out how you can be a part of effecting change.  Investigate and compare those “other” political partys and their candidates.  Do not allow the mainstream medias’ coverage of the same ol’ song and dance routine of the 2 major partys be your only source of information.

The Truth About Facebook

Do you honestly believe there is such a thing as “privacy” anymore? And what about all of those things that you create and share online through media such as Facebook? Are your creations safe from infringement? Is someone else making money from your work?

There is something even scarier than that. View the video and take special notice of the flowchart. Who does Facebook really work for?

The USA Patriot Act and the Bill of Rights

The Act

The “Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001” (USA PATRIOT Act, or USAPA) introduced a plethora of legislative changes which significantly increased the surveillance and investigative powers of law enforcement agencies in the United States. The Act did not, however, provide for the system of checks and balances that traditionally safeguards civil liberties in the face of such legislation.

Legislative proposals in response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 were introduced less than a week after the attacks. Though the Act made significant amendments to over 15 important statutes, it was introduced with great haste and passed with little debate, and without a House, Senate, or conference report. As a result, it lacks background legislative history that often retrospectively provides necessary statutory interpretation.

The USA Patriot Act was signed into law on Oct. 26, 2001.  This Act was overwhelmingly passed with 357 votes in the House and 98 votes in the Senate.  The Patriot Act decimates the Bill of Rights.  And there was hardly a peep from the “We the People.”

The original Patriot Act was drafted by both, Republicans and Democrats, the House and the Senate. But at the very last minute the original was switched with a version authored by Viet Dinh[1]. Under cover of darkness the President had the substitute bill printed at 3:45 a.m., only hours before the House vote scheduled for that same morning. Out of 435 Representatives, NOT ONE would read the substituted Act before voting on the bill.

It is not proper constitutional procedure for a bill that has been hammered out by both parties and both houses to be switched in the early morning hours with a bill prepared by lawyers from the executive branch.

Let us take a closer look at the USA Patriot Act and its effects:

Effects of the Act

The Act encompasses 30 years of spying legislation, laws that the congress had declared unconstitutional for over 30 years because they violate core American principles and the Constitution. The USA Patriot Act invades the lives of every American giving the President full authority under the law to violate our most fundamental principles under the Bill of Rights.

The First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

Under the Patriot Act the government can instruct Libraries to turn over lists of books and internet records for everyone or anyone that visits their premises. The Library cannot reveal this “request” has been made and there is a penalty of imprisonment for uncooperative librarians. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU!

The Fourth Amendment: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

The Patriot Act provides for searches, without probable cause. Law enforcement can break and enter into your home, collect computer files, reading lists, video and magazine lists and even “bug” your home with high tech surveillance equipment. All of this in direct violation of the Fourth Amendment. The Patriot Act has destroyed Property Rights and allows for illegal examination of your private property.

The Fifth Amendment: “No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.”

The Patriot Act makes it legal for any American to be imprisoned indefinitely, without the assistance of counsel, without the right to face their accuser and be denied access to the courts. These provisions within the Patriot Act suspend and nullify Due Process of Law guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.

These provisions also violate the Sixth[2], Eighth[3] and Thirteenth[4] Amendments which guarantee the right to a speedy and public trial, the prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment and the prohibition against slavery and involuntary servitude without first being duly convicted under the law.

The USA PATRIOT Act introduced sweeping changes to U.S. law, including amendments to:

Show Me Your Papers!!

If you are asked for identification at any time or place by any law enforcement officer – Be Warned! – Non-compliance could escalate to government sanctioned torture.

Could the atmosphere created by the Patriot Act have emboldened law enforcement officers to engage in activities that under ordinary circumstances would not be tolerated in America?

What happened to our fundamental Rights?

Bill of Rights Murdered

Did the members of the house violate their Oath of Office by blindly voting on a Bill they had never seen before? Was this gross incompetence on their part?

During Dec. of 2005, with open eyes and a flagrant disregard for the Constitution – both the House and the Senate voted to extend the USA Patriot Act, broaden its scope and make most of its provisions permanent.

Your Representatives did not hesitate to pull the trigger on your liberties.  This action can not be swept under the rug with any suggestion of mere incompetence by these men and women.  This second vote evidenced a blatant, brazen and deliberate violation of their Oath. But is it evidence of compromised politicians or was this straight up treason?

It only took 262 Republicans and 77 Democrats to kill the Bill of Rights.

American Terrorists

John Ashcroft stated: “To those who scare peace loving people with phantoms of lost liberty my message is this: Your tactics only aid terrorists.”

What is he really saying? Is he claiming that opposition to this Act is not an attempt to protect our liberty but “aiding and abetting” terrorists? Does he dare lump freedom loving Americans in with “terrorists.”?? If you speak out about the danger to freedom that legislation such as this holds do you become a “terrorist” in the eyes of your “servant” government?

Responsibility and Solutions

Many people have bought the line “you can’t fight city hall” and believe this horror cannot be overcome.  Please don’t buy into that because there is something that we can do.

In response to the loss of liberty under the Patriot Act, government leaders in states, townships and cities across the country have begun to systematically enact local legislation that prevents the enforcement of the Patriot Act within those localized communities.

The documentary “Washington, You’re Fired” notes that at the closing of 2007 –  there were 412 city, county and states which had passed anti-Patriot Act legislation and there were another 277 resolutions pending. Maine was the First State to pass such legislation against the Patriot Act followed by 7 other states, including, ironically, Washington, D.C.

The Bill of Rights Defense Committee helps communities across the country to participate in an ongoing national debate about American Liberty. Their mission is to promote, organize and support national grass roots movements to restore and protect Liberty as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.  Every American is entitled to Bill of Rights protections.  It is the responsibility of every Freedom loving American to act to protect the Liberty guaranteed and protected by the Bill of Rights.

If you would like to become involved: go to www.bordc.org, find your state, locate your city and contact the person in charge of Patriot Act legislation in your area. Find out how you can help.

Americans must be vocal on this issue.   The USA Patriot Act MUST GO!!

Legislation for Socialism in America

Not one word about this from the Main Stream Media… you remember them… those that should be shouting from the rooftops when Freedom and Liberty are in danger.

From WorldNetDaily Exclusive Commentary

The classic definition of socialism is: government control of the sources of production. A bill now before Congress, H.R. 2421, will give the federal government absolute control over all sources of production. This bill, if enacted, will instantly convert the United States into a socialist nation.
